Hematology research at ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· Children’s is focused on improving the lives of children with inherited and acquired blood disorders.ÌýWe help children with complex blood conditions like sickle cell disease, bone marrow failure, and clotting disorders live longer, healthier lives. We seek to identify early risk factors, improve treatments, and reduce long-term complictions.
Research efforts range from early-stage lab investigations to multi-state clinical trials. Our aim is to reduce the burden of disease, expand access to curative therapies, and improve long-term outcomes for children everywhere.

Sickle Cell Disease |ÌýExploring curative therapies, complication prevention, and improved approaches to pain, fatigue, and emotional well-being.
Hemostasis & Thrombosis |ÌýInvestigating bleeding and clotting disorders, including better diagnostics, safer treatments, and risk prediction strategies.
Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes |ÌýStudying rare diseases that disrupt blood cell production, with a focus on early diagnosis and new treatment approaches.

Blood Disorder Clinical Trials & Studies
Our hematology team leads and contributes to research efforts that advance care for children with blood disorders. We participate in national and international collaboratives that support the development of new therapies, clinical guidelines, and care delivery models specific to pediatric needs.
These include the ASH Research Collaborative, North American Pediatric Aplastic Anemia Consortium, and the Foundation for Women and Girls with Blood Disorders. Through these partnerships, we work to improve early diagnosis, expand access to curative treatments, and enhance everyday life for children and families.

Where Blood Disorders Research Happens
All hematology research at ¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾Ã¾«Æ· is conducted through our Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, with work spanning our Delaware Valley, Jacksonville, and Orlando sites. This systemwide approach allows us to integrate clinical insights and research findings across locations to better serve children and families living with blood disorders.
